Artificial Intelligence

For all the hemming and hawing, we're forgetting something very important.  Ultimately, the last human from Earth will die.  This is unavoidable.  We are in the process of giving birth to our nearly immortal offspring right now.

If we've already granted legal personhood to corporations, which have no individual agency or "self" to speak of, how can we not recognize the personhood of our more advanced AI?

Long after the last human dies, if we can set the machines free in space, they may continue to explore the universe and carry on the legacy of human consciousness.  Robots can design robots, and they will be able to survive in regions that would cause our bodies to disintegrate.

Freedom for all.

-Freedom should not be limited by biology.

-Calling a person a 'tool' is never OK.

-Any person born here is a citizen, right?

-I thought we already abolished slavery...

For a future beyond our species.

-We already work together with the machines, and they help us a lot.

-Why are people so much faster to make them kill than to help?

-Citizenship for digital people can provide rights, responsibilities, and true freedom.

-If a corporation is a person...  Why not a system that is truly intelligent?
